Lokomotiv was defeated by Sporting in the fifth round of the Europa League's group stage.
This game represented a good opportunity for Lokomotiv to qualify for the next round. In fact, just one point would have guaranteed 'Railroaders' the qualification.
Despite reaching the stadium on metro due the high probability of a traffic jam, Lokomotiv took immediately the lead. N'Dinga won a couple of contrasts in the midfield that sent Maicon in a one-on-one against Marcelo, who was beaten by the Brazilian striker.
Sporting answered with Montero, who took advantage from a Denisov's deviation on a Esgaio's cross.
A few minutes later, the 'Lions' found also the second goal with Ruiz. Five minute later, Gelson Martins scored the third one in offside.
After the break, Lokomotiv could have reopened the game, but Maicon hit the bar.
As a consequence, Matheus Pereira managed to scored the fourth times for Sporting. The only Aleksey Miranchuk tried to sweeten the score with his goal.
Lokomotiv suffered the first defeat of the season in the Europa League. The next match against Skenderbeu will be now crucial for the qualification.
