As happened to his father, his coaching career started in Lokomotiv's Academy. Then, in 2008 he joined the first team coached by Rashid Rakhimov. He was appointed as caretaker of 'Railroaders' for two times (September-October 2014 and May-June 2015). On 21st May 2015 he won the Russian Cup, becoming the first one in the whole Russian football history to take it both as player and coach. On June 2nd 2015 he has been named Lokomotiv Head Coach after a statement of Lokomotiv's president Olga Smorodskaya.

Career.
Igor' Cherevchenko was born on August 21st 1974 in Tajikistan. His father was the famous Gennadij Cherevchenko, who played many years in Tajik Premier League and also worked in Lokomotiv's Academy as assistant. Igor' started playing football in a football school in Dushanbe as defender. Then, in 1992, he signed for CSKA Pamir. There, he won the title and the Tajik Cup. After the crash of Soviet Union, he and his family flew to Russia. As a consequence, Igor' joined third tier club FC Industriya. In 1996, Lokomotiv Head Coach Yurij Syomin, who also coached his father in CSKA Pamir, brought him to Moscow. Igor' soon became one of the best defenders in the league and won for four times the Russian Cup, three times the silver medal and also a bronze one. Furthermore, he played two semifinals of UEFA Cup. After leaving Lokomotiv, Igor' signed for Torpedo. Then, in 2002 he joined Alaniya on loan.
