Sporting - Lokomotiv 1:3.

Начали с победы!

Lokomotiv defeated Sporting in the first round of the Europa League group stage.

Before the game against Sporting, most fans were anxious to play against a strong opponent that wanted to take a revenge vs a Russian club after the elimination in the Champions League against CSKA. However, Lokomotiv's captain Vedran Corluka assured everyone that anyone was afraid to face the Portuguese side.

Since the first minutes, Sporting seemed not able to create any chance. In fact, in the first half they were dangerous only with Oliveira after a corner.

At the same time, Lokomotiv took advantage from the first opportunity. Samedov intercepted a ball in the midfield and then scored the 0:1 after a Niasse's shot was stopped by Rui Patricio

In the second half, Sporting scored the 1:1 with Montero after 50 mins. However, 'Railroaders' immediately answered again with Samedov, who beat the Portuguese goalkeeper with an accurate shot thanks to an assist from Niasse.

Nine minutes later, the same Niasse made a incredible action that lead to the third goal. Amazing.

Sporting wasn't able to react and so suffered the first defeat at home in the Europa League after the one against Brondby in 2010.

Lokomotiv started the group stage with a crucial victory.
