On July 12nd 2015, Lokomotiv faced Zenit in the Russian Super Cup.
In the first game of the season, there was a real clash of the titans: the RPL's winners faced the Russian Cup's owners.
Lokomotiv flew to Saint Petersburg from the camp in Austria and yesterday had a training session at Petrovskij Stadium.
Despite being cloudy, the Stadium was full of people. As usual, Lokomotiv's sector was colored in green.
Although the absence of a limit, in the both starting line-ups there weren't too many foreign players. In particular, Aleksander Kolomeytsev made his debut for 'Railroaders'.
The game started with a series of Lokomotiv's attacks. Both teams felt the importance of the match and as a consequence they were careful.
Lokomotiv took immediately advantage from the first opportunity: Tarasov won a contrast in the area and Niasse beat Lodygin with a shot in the corner.
During the second half, Zenit started attacking more constantly. They created many chances, but the Lokomotiv's defense played very well.
However, seven minutes before the final whistle, 'Bomzhi' scored the 1:1 with a Smolnikov's header.
In the extra times, both Niasse and Witsel could have scored, but they weren't accurate.
Arriving to the penalties, the home team was more lucky and won the Super Cup. Now, Lokomotiv is waited by 30 matches of RPL, the Russian Cup and the Europa League's group stage.
